What we do for stairs

An overview of cladding types, surfaces, extras and complete staircases. Price the cladding online, everything else we quote to measure.

Types of stair cladding

Every cladding starts with an MDF core board that keeps the step stable. We press the surface onto it. The edge is either postformed with a larger radius or folded to a sharper edge.

Tread with a nose

Tread and riser are two separate pieces. The nose is postformed, the riser fits underneath it. LED can sit under the nose. (14 mm edge radius, LED possible)

One-piece edge

Tread and riser form one piece. The edge is postformed at 14 mm or folded at 6 mm, where the material is stretched more. (14 mm or 6 mm, no LED)

Cantilevered stairs

We clad single treads or the whole structure all round, 360°, with any edge type. (360° cladding, LED possible)

Surfaces

The same step can have different surfaces. Choose to match your floor and your budget.

Vinyl

  • Modified PVC with a large choice of wood and concrete decors
  • Proven decors that handle the bent edge well

Eco vinyl

  • Made only from natural materials, no PVC, chlorine, plasticisers or solvents
  • No odour or emissions, with a hard-wearing finish

Wood

  • Wood from your own floor so stairs and floor match
  • Wood veneer from a wide range of species
  • For cantilevered stairs also solid wood or glued panels

HPL laminate

  • High-pressure laminate, tough and lightfast
  • Many wood decors and plain colours

Stair extras

Zero step

The top step flush with the floor. The edge continues without transition trims. Made from 2 mm to match the floor.

LED lighting

Lights the tread, not your eyes. Warm (3000 K), neutral (4000 K) or cool (5000 K), strip length to suit. Also in railings, handrails or slats.

White risers

A nice contrast to wood and make a narrow dark staircase look bigger. Unlike plaster they take kicks and wipe clean.

Trims

Close the step at the wall and keep it clean. They follow the shape of the stairs.

Side panels

Also protect the wall but form a straight line above the noses, so the staircase looks solid.

Wall handrails

Safer for children and older people, and a cleaner wall.

Landings and winders

Landings and turning sections get the same surfaces.

New complete staircases

Besides cladding we build and install the whole staircase, from structure to surface. With 3D design and CAD drawings.

  • Concrete: Also from gypsum concrete, the whole staircase to your plan.
  • Steel: Steel structure with treads in wood, vinyl or laminate.
  • Self-supporting: Central-spine and stringer structures to measure.
  • Spiral: Spiral staircases for any space.
  • Wall-inserted: Treads set into the wall so the staircase seems to float.

Railings and infills

We design the railing to match the stairs and the room. You choose the material and infill colour.

  • Bars: metal bars in a RAL colour
  • Patterned sheet: RAL colour, several patterns
  • Wooden slats: solid and calm, match the stairs
  • Glass: open space and more light
  • Stainless steel: timeless and easy to keep

Slats

Slats work as infill between flights or as a wall feature. The core is MDF board, from 22 mm thick.

  • HPL surface: lightfast, water and abrasion resistant
  • Natural veneer: lacquered or oiled

Window sills

Surface: HPL resistant to light, water and scratches, wood, metal and stone looks or plain colours, vinyl with wood and stone looks, or natural wood.

Single-sided

  • For window sills and seating
  • Postformed edge, decor to match windows or floor
  • Water, dirt and abrasion resistant, lightfast

Double-sided

  • To cap a low wall used as a railing

Common questions

What is the difference between a step with nosing and without?

With nosing, tread and riser are two parts and LED fits under the nosing. Without nosing it is one piece with a bent edge, without LED.

What is a flush top step?

The top step sits level with the floor, so the edge continues without a transition strip.

Do you also make slats and window sills?

Yes, slats as infill or wall decoration and window sills in HPL, vinyl or wood, on request.
